The Most Important Part of Moving House (aka Organising My Bookshelves)

TBR YAFinally getting my bookcases sorted out after moving! Usually I like to have my books sorted by genre and then alphabetically by author but since moving in with Jade I’ve lost some shelf space. I’ve also acquired a lot of books from some friends recently. As a consequence, most of my shelves are now double stacked.

I was trying to work out how I was going to organise everything for ages but I think I’ve finally hit on the best solution! I’m still sorting everything by genre and alphabetically but I’ve decided to split my collections so all the books I haven’t read yet (which there are a lot of… >.<) are all at the front.

The picture is my new, shiny, organised YA collection! (Click to enlarge if you like to stalk bookcases like me!) I had figured that my YA collection was split about 50/50 with books I had and hadn’t read so I was pleasantly surprised to see I actually had just over a shelf of extra space on the unread side of things. I’m pretty sure I won’t have a heap of space left over on my other genre bookcases.

I’ve been told I need to get a move on and read Earth Girl and The 5th Wave. I’m also really looking forward to Matched, Quiver and City of a Thousand Dolls. Anything you’ve read and loved on these shelves? Or hated? Let me know in the comments!

May New Book #2

mirror sightSo I’ve been a little slack with this update. Kristen Britain’s newest book was released in Australia on the 15th of May which is also my birthday! BEST GIFT EVER, THANKS KB! This is the fifth installment in her Green Rider fantasy series which you may remember from this post. It’s a pretty fat book and I have a bunch of uni work due so it’ll take me some time to get through.

On a related birthday note: As with every year, Europe got me Eurovision for my birthday which I am totally okay with! I am a Eurovision tragic and have been slowly converting all my friends and family. This year I was backing Finland but I was happy Conchita won. To celebrate, please enjoy my all time favourite performance:

New Books March/April 2014

These are some of the books added to my ever increasing To Be Read pile over the last couple of months. (Less of a pile now and more a collection of shelves! Whoops!) Most are second or third books in series but there are a couple of standalones/first books in there!

I’m particularly looking forward to starting Stormdancer, While We Run and Parasite. I really need to finish reading the Vampire Academy series first, though that hasn’t stopped me from knocking another couple of books off first.

Anything here you’ve read or would like to? What did you think?

A Visit from the Postal Fairy

So the Postal Fairy left these two gorgeous hardcovers on my door step yesterday! I wasn’t expecting them to arrive until next week so there might have been a bit (a lot) of excited squeeing going on.

Still got a couple of books from this month’s TBR pile. I’m averaging one book a week, thanks to Directive 51. That book was seriously hard going! These two will probably wind up in my next round of TBR because I’m not sure I can wait.

New books!

Just wanted to share the new books I picked up the other day – Marie Lu’s Legend and Marissa Meyer’s Cinder. It’s been a bit of a book buying spree this week. I also have a couple of shiny hardcovers coming from Book Depository in the next couple of weeks which is exciting.

Cause this is Thriller. Thriller night.

At the moment I’m working my way through sci-fi thriller Directive 51 by John Barnes. It’s taken me a little while to get into it but stuff is going down now. A bunch of people are dead and it looks like life as we know it is quickly coming to an end. And I’m only a third of the way in!

Aiming to finish it in the next couple of days (providing I get my uni work done) so expect a review of it soon.

TBR as of January 29th

Coming soon to a blog near you!

A (very) small selection of my To Read books. These are all sitting next to my bed and should be the next round of reviews coming. Providing I don’t pick something else off my shelves anyway! I’m supposed to be working through books I’ve had on my shelves for a while but I’m a sucker for a newly purchased book.

Particularly looking forward to Saundra Mitchell’s Defy The Dark anthology as it features stories from Sarah Rees Brennan and Carrie Ryan. That being said, Timekeepers will probably be the next up as the sequel to the most recently finished novel, Waywalkers by Catherine Webb.
